With the first signs of fall comes a level of excitement that many people can’t contain. Trading in the hot days of summer for cooler weather doesn’t seem like a compromise at all. In fact, many people tolerate fall conditions better than they do other seasons. If you happen to be one of them, you’re going want to be outdoors with your loved ones as often as possible this season.

Here are five fabulous fall fitness activities to try with your family:

  • Pick apples together at an orchard. This is far more physical than you can imagine. Not only are you walking and reaching, you’re also bending and carrying. Best of all, your reward at the end is a large supply of fresh apples to enjoy.
  • Go for a bicycle tour of your hometown. How many times have you passed by the same streets having never looked around to see what has changed? Get out on your bikes as a family and become a tourist in your own city. Take note of how different things look in fall compared to other seasons.
  • Take a walk and note the changes in the foliage. Choose a trail or pathway that is lined with trees. Pay attention to the different colors of leaves that you see. If compelled, take some pictures, and share them with family and friends on social media.
  • Visit a corn maze. See who can make it to the end first. Make sure to keep small children close by because it may take you a while to get through the maze.
  • Rake leaves together. Not only are you cleaning up the yard, you’re also getting in some exercise. You’ll burn calories and have a lot of fun outdoors with your kids.
